About NSHPCA

Whether you are grieving, living with a life-limiting illness, caring for someone at end-of-life, or working as a health or community professional, NSHPCA provides clear pathways to the support you need.

NSHPCA is a provincial, non-profit organization that provides leadership, education, and advocacy in hospice palliative care, grief, and emotional wellness. While we do not deliver care directly, our role is to ensure that individuals and families can access compassionate support by strengthening community capacity, sharing information, and supporting those who provide care.

Our Mission.

To lead and advocate for quality palliative care and grief support by fostering education, collaboration, research and innovation. We connect partners and systems with communities to enable people to navigate serious illness, diverse losses and emotional wellness with dignity, compassion and informed choice.

Our Vision.

All people in Nova Scotia can access compassionate, culturally responsive palliative care and grief support when and where they need it.

Our Values.

NSHPCA offers learning opportunities for organizations, communities, and workplaces interested in grief and emotional wellness, loss, and bereavement support for staff. Our subject-matter experts provide in-person or virtual sessions – including lunch-and-learns, webinars, and facilitated discussions – at no cost.

We work with communities, organizations, and companies to share knowledge, build understanding, and strengthen compassionate responses to palliative care, grief, and emotional wellness through tailored presentations and workshops.
